First appointment with the doctor | Thursday, June 3, 2004 |
We had to get up super early because I scheduled the first available appointment with the doctor and it was at 8:30am! Michael was really stressed out because of the traffic and work on his mind. I didn’t know where the office was, just that it was in or near Evergreen Hospital. I was just looking for the hospital signs and didn’t see any, which resulted in missed turns and a driver getting more angry by the second. By the time we pulled up into the parking garage, Michael was steaming so I told him to just stay in the car and I went to the appointment myself. I was a little disappointed, the doctor was okay and all, I just missed the warmth and personal treatment that I got from Tracy and Michelle at Expecting the Best. I had to sign a billion forms, give a urine sample, several tubes of blood, and get a pap done. I felt poked and prodded like cattle, treated more like a subject rather than a person. It’s not the doctor’s fault, I think they are all that way and I need to get used to it. They gave me a couple of books to read and kind of had the attitude of “all the info you need is in here” so don’t bother us with questions. I had a problem when they were drawing my blood, one of my arms was good and the other was bad. unfortunately, she tried the bad one first. I have a big bruise now. The other side was ok and she was able to get all the blood she needed for whatever tests. I hate getting blood drawn! Michael cooled off a little by the time I got back to the car, but he was still not his usual chipper self. It’s probably because we didn’t get enough sleep. I had to take a short nap before going into work since I was *really* tired.
