Finally start work and Margaret Cho

Today I finally started work, since my account/badge/whatever is all set up now. They told me I could start Tuesday, which technically I can, but I would have to come into the office, which I can’t. So, I dropped off the boys at the Pro Club, and went into work. I basically set up my machine, which took forever because I had to get the keyboard/mouse/cables/hub you name it, I needed it. After the hardware is done, then you have to get all the software on there. It went amazingly smoothly though, it took about 3 hours, which I think usually it would take longer than that. I am sharing an office with an old teammate, and he was surprised when he walked in and I was sitting there. I think it confused him for a second. Or thought I came back as a FT person. But I told him all about my situation and we had a nice conversation about lasik (he had it done recently) surgery and the weirdness of his keyboard layout. He says that he can type faster. Whatever. I think it would just mess me up if I go to a regular keyboard. And I think I type fast enough already. I picked up the boys, they did good again. Somehow, when they are there, they eat a WHOLE LOT! I brought one 200ml bottle and one 120ml bottle for them each and they both ate it all in 3 hours. They never eat that much. I think what happens is that they fuss a little so the day care people feed them automatically. And of course they will just eat what they are given. Maybe that’s why america is so fat! The day care workers!!! HA! Since it was rush hour when I picked them up, we decided to go to dinner at I Love Sushi. It was crowded as usual and it was a 30 minute wait. We had fun taking pictures with our cameras and posting it on the blog. My phone had some problem with the memory and wouldn’t take pictures! There was space, but somehow it was saying it didn’t. Dang gadgets!!! Anyways, we got them home and in bed, then my sister and Scott came over to babysit. They don’t have to do anything tonight, but just to be there. We went to a Margaret Cho concert and it was really good. We enjoyed it. Very political though, maybe almost too political for me. I enjoy her “regular” comedy a lot too. After the show, we went to the Cheesecake Factory for some yummy cheesecake and a martini, dang, it was g-o-o-d! I haven’t had one since before I was pregnant, so it was very satisfying!

Watched some old video

Today I watched some old video of the boys from when they were about a month old. It’s amazing how much they have changed. Of course I knew that they’ve gotten bigger and more aware, but it’s so funny how easily you forget. I get bogged down in the details and forget the larger picture. For example, I’m so concerned that they’re not turning over yet, but when watching the video, I realize how much control they’ve gotten of everything - head, arms, hands, fingers, legs, etc. Gosh, when they were a month old, they were like little worms, involuntarily and constantly moving. And sleeping A LOT! I think almost all the video shots involved sleeping. I wish we got some video of when they were born, but oh well.

Nothing much happened today, pretty normal day. I didn’t leave the house at all since I didn’t have anything planned and didn’t have to go to the post office. Michael came home late again today and I had the boys fed and put to bed before he got home. I really love my blanket bottle holder, it’s a lifesaver! It’s basically this fleece blanket that I put under the bottle to hold it up so that I bathe Rowan while Elijah eats (he no longer has to cry while I’m busy).

I am trying to finish up thank you cards before I start work. I’m such a procrastinator! It’s only been 7 months!

Michael is late again!

Michael was late again from work, emergencies abound! That’s ok, it’s not like I can’t handle the boys by myself. It’s just nice to have two people in the evenings, it just makes the bath time/final meal time more enjoyable. I went to the post office twice today, sending off more stuff! Woo-hoo, gotta love that ebay! I’m a little worried that one of my packages will come back to me. There is something called a “flat rate” box that I used to package up something. You’re not supposed to change the shape of it, but I used it in it’s “flat” form. It’s technically changing the shape from the “normal” box shape, but I thought I would take a chance. We’ll see. I had a hard time getting it into the drop box, but with creative manipulation, I did it!

eBay crazy

I am soooo addicted to eBay and Half.com now! I’ve been successful at getting rid of some books and lots of baby stuff and I’m learning what sells and what doesn’t. Baby gear/supplies will always sell. Baby books will always sell. Baby clothes do not. I guess because there’s so much of it. It’s also been fun to have a little “shipping station” and make multiple trips to the post office. I stayed up super late today typing in descriptions of some old magazines and getting them up. I hope they sell!

Elijah has been biting me while nursing, so I’ve been having to teach him not to do it. Rowan went through this about a week ago, and he learned pretty quickly. What I do is pretty much shout “OOOOOWWWWW!” and press on his face, not hard or anything, but just so that he knows what he is doing that is hurting me.

Rowan is a changed baby

This morning when I woke up, I noticed that Rowan was different. He has some kind of new conciousness. When playing in the round exersaucer, he was playing with parts of it he usually ignores and he just seemed different. It’s like he grew overnight, which he probably did. He is also talking with more definition, his favorite thing to say is either “bla, bla, bla, bla” or “mum, mum, mum, mmmmmmm”. Elijah is pretty good with turning over. Most of the time I put him down, he turns over right away. His neck/back strength is pretty good too. He can stand tummy time for 10 minutes now, which is unheard of! Rowan still doesn’t like tummy time, but he can do it longer, not quite as long as Elijah. It’s interesting how one baby is ahead in some things and not in others. I guess I wasn’t expecting them to be clones…

Dave Attell concert on Father’s Day

Happy Father’s day folks! It is Michael’s first, and we spent the day relaxing then we all went on a trek to Safeway. We noticed that the stroller tires were super flat and we have been having bicycle pump finding problems. On the way back, we stopped at the park and had a nice picnic. It was a nice day, we sat in the shade of a nice grove of trees.

By the way, see these pictures posted? They are from our camera phones! Blogger has this new feature that you can send a MMS message (picture and text) and it will automatically post to this blog. Pretty cool, eh? I always never think of it though, I’ll have to be better about that. But I also have to be careful about overusing it, since it costs .40 per message. There are plans I can buy, but I figure I just want to do like 5 a month. It would be fun to have Michael post stuff when he’s away on a mountain.

My sister and Scott came over to babysit for the first time. They were lucky because they got away with no diaper changes! They only had to feed, play and put them to bed. We went to a Dave Attell concert in the city. Michael and I both agreed that it was one of the best comedy concerts we’ve been to. Better than Chris Rock, Wanda Sykes, Paula Poundstone and Margaret Cho (although we’re going to see her later this week). He just talks about really weird stuff and it’s funny! He went on this whole thing about pineapples and how sweet they are. There were several lines of thought that were super funny. If you have a chance, you should check out his show. I had to buy his shirt that said “Insomniac” on the front and on the back it says “Get Some Sleep!” How appropriate for new parents! Shaun and Scott did great, no problems. What a relief!
